A tribute from his lodge
A much-valued Brother
Maurie Freeman served Alwarestoch Lodge as Worshipful Master in 2026. Sadly, cancer took him from us before he was able to complete his year in office.
His time as Master became part of the continuing story of Alwarestoch, but Maurie will be remembered for far more than the office he held. He was a Brother among friends and a valued member of the lodge family.
Those who knew Maurie will remember the friendship, commitment and fellowship he brought to the lodge. His passing was felt deeply by all who had the privilege of sharing his company and serving alongside him.
Service, friendship and life beyond the lodge
Maurie lived in Gosport and worked at The Harbour School. Within Freemasonry, he did much to help Alwarestoch look forward: welcoming prospective members, sharing news of new joiners and organising visits so that Brethren could enjoy fellowship with other lodges.
He also gave his time to maintaining Alwarestoch’s online presence, helping the lodge stay connected and ensuring its activities could be shared with members and the wider community.

Although Maurie could not finish his year as Worshipful Master, the honour of his service remains. His memory will continue to hold a special place within Alwarestoch Lodge No. 7805.
